Born and raised in Chicago, Bobby Bens first began his journey into the world of DJ'ing and House Music, during the late 1980's. Like many who grew up in Chicago during this time, he would listen to various mix shows on local radio, every week, almost religiously. Shortly after, Bobby got his first Technics 1200 turntable and began collecting records.

It wasn't until the mid 1990's when Bobby finally had a "full DJ set-up". While learning the art of DJ'ing, he experimented with various genres of electronic music, including Hip Hop, which he had also developed a passion for. However, during this time of self teaching, Bobby became fixated on House Music. His first nightclub gig came in 2000, at the legendary Red Dog nightclub, in Chicago.

In 2000, Bobby and a friend co-founded and operated an urban clothing & music boutique, named EQ, in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood. They also sold mix tapes, cd's and records throughout the country at various electronic music events and provided clothing & music to patrons around the globe, via their website. Bobby sold his share of the corporation in 2003.

In 2007, Bobby co-founded Front Of House, a collective of Chicago House DJs. Since their inception, Front Of House has hosted or co-hosted many events throughout the Chicagoland area.

Over the years, Bobby has performed at numerous nightclubs, bars, radio stations, street fairs and parties throughout Chicago and beyond. Currently, he continues to play an active role in Chicago's House Music scene and is working on production. Be on the lookout for releases from Bobby Bens in the near future.
